FAQ

What is Rceep?

Your receipts, finally digital. Photograph or upload a receipt and the service reads the merchant, date, and line items, then automatically works out important dates like the right to complain.

What is a Space?

A Space is a shared receipt archive — for a family or household, say. Everyone in a Space sees the same receipts and the same reminders about open purchase, warranty, and the right to complain. Someone invited to a Space by email doesn't need a Rceep account already — one is created automatically using the same address the invitation was sent to.

What does it cost?

Free kostar inget och kräver inga kortuppgifter. Rceep Plus (49 kr/år) och Rceep Spaces (199 kr/år, upp till 5 medlemmar) är valfria uppgraderingar — se hela prislistan.

What happens if I don't renew Rceep Plus or Rceep Spaces?

If a payment fails, we email you right away so you can update your card — Stripe automatically retries on its usual schedule, and nothing is switched off just because a single charge bounces once.

If the subscription still isn't renewed: a personal Rceep Plus upgrade reverts to Free and your receipts aren't affected at all. For a Space (a family's, say), the same applies once the Space already has at most one member left. If the Space still has more members, the owner gets two reminder emails over 30 days with a chance to renew or remove members themselves — if nothing is done, the Space is then permanently deleted, along with its receipts and every member's access to them. Your own personal receipts outside of Spaces are never automatically deleted, regardless of subscription.

Why are there no reminders on some receipts?

That's usually expected, not a bug. The right to complain and the reversed burden of proof are statutory rights for goods — they normally don't apply to restaurant or service receipts, so those don't get such reminders. Open purchase and warranty also need details (the merchant's own terms, the product's warranty length) that the service doesn't yet capture automatically for every purchase.

What's the difference between open purchase and the right to complain?

Open purchase is a voluntary policy from the merchant — not a statutory right. The right to complain is statutory (in Sweden normally 3 years, with a reversed burden of proof for the first 2). The service never conflates the two.

Do you track anything besides open purchase, warranty, and the right to complain?

Yes. A gift card's own printed expiry date gets its own reminder, and so does an invoice's due date. Neither is a statutory or voluntary right like the three above — just a date we read and remind you about in good time before it passes.

Does it work for receipts from other countries?

You can photograph and save receipts regardless of where the purchase was made. Automatic reminders for the right to complain and burden of proof are currently calculated for a growing number of countries — for other countries, the receipt is still saved and organised as normal, just without a computed statutory deadline.

What happens if the reading is wrong?

The reading is automatic and can occasionally misread the merchant, date, or amount. You can always change the category yourself on the receipt's detail page, and if something else is wrong there's a "Fix details" link on the same page that sends us an email with the receipt's details pre-filled.

Can I change an item's category?

Yes, on the receipt's detail page you can enter your own category per line. This only affects your own receipts — the product catalog that other users' receipts build on doesn't change.

How do I share a receipt with someone?

Open the receipt and choose "Create share link" under Share receipt. The link leads to a read-only page — no login is required to view it. You can revoke the link whenever you want, and it stops working immediately.

How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Go to Security in the menu → Enable with authenticator app. Scan the QR code with e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or 1Password, enter the code the app shows, and save your recovery codes somewhere safe.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. Under Security you'll find "Export my data" (downloads everything you've stored as JSON) and "Delete my account" (permanently removes the account and all its data — can't be undone).

What happens to my receipts if I stop using the service?

Your receipts stay in place for as long as the account exists — we don't automatically remove inactive accounts. If you want to close it entirely, delete the account under Security; see the privacy policy for how long data is kept after that.

Can I use it for business receipts / bookkeeping?

The service is built for private individuals' own purchases, not as a bookkeeping system — there's no SIE export format or VAT reporting. You can still photograph and save business receipts and export them as JSON, but it doesn't replace a real bookkeeping solution. Open purchase, warranty, and the right to complain are also rights for a private individual buying from a business — not the other way around. If you add receipts to a Space of type Business or Association, none of them get tracked at all; the receipts are just stored as usual.

Is my data secure?

Passwords are handled by ASP.NET Core Identity (never custom password handling), login supports two-factor authentication, and all traffic goes over HTTPS. See also the privacy policy and cookie information.
